SnowGlobe with a Twist – AMuse and Memory Box

A little while ago, I was pondering how I could use my snow globe stamp in an unexpected way. With Fall in the air and Thanksgiving coming up this week, I came up with the idea to use my snow globe stamp to make a Fall themed card.

Here is what I came up with…….

The Turkey stamp and Happy Fall sentiment stamp are by AMuse. The Snow globe and Leaf stamps are from Memory Box. I used Copics to color the images and I used Spellbinders to cut out and mat the image. The card base is Memory Box soiree paper.

I was a little surprised at how well “Happy Fall” stamped on the ribbon. I used Memento Chocolate Brown and it worked really well.

Happy Easter Memory Box Style by Melanie

Melanie Brown created 2 variations of the same card using the Filigree Egg and Nature Print Egg stamps from Memory Box’s Easter Suite Release. Brilliance ink was used to stamp the images and Memory Box’s 6 x 6 Gossamer Paper was used to mat the stamped images. Melanie added a little bling by accenting with Spica Glitter pens and Memory Box pearl stickers.

Spring Inspirations from Memory Box

After weeks of wrapping up things, I finally got around to making a couple of Spring Cards. This first card was made using the new Dotty Tree from the Memory Box Easter Release. The base card was made from Memory Box brown paper. The image was stamped on white Memory Box textured soiree paper and was matted using paper from the 6 x 6 Frond paper. I stamped the image in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate and colored the image with Copics. The light tinted blue background was created by airbrushing it with Copics. The airbrushing allows you to create a nice subtle background. I first add a blue ribbon that was the same color of the bluebirds but I was not sure that it added more or if it took away. Anytime I am in doubt, I go with the less is more approach.

I love pink and brown color combinations. This card was created using Memory Box brown paper as the base card. The image was stamped on Cream Textured Soiree Paper and was matted using paper from the 6 x 6 Gossamer paper. The stamps used were the Tree Frame and Vine Border (tiny flower) Stamps from the Memory Box What’s in the Box 2010 Release. The Tree Frame was stamped using Brilliance Pearlescent  Chocolate ink. The flowers were stamped using ColorBox Orchid ink and was accented with Smooch Ink in Taffy.

Halloween Tri-Fold Shutter Card Sample

Here are 2 Halloween Tri-Fold Shutter Cards that Melanie Brown created for us. These tri-fold cards have a lot of character and tons of detail. Melanie found this tri-fold shutter card pattern on SplitCoast and couldn’t resist the challenge. Both turned out fabulously. What do you think? Dave Brethauer of Memory Box Hosts Classes at La Carta Bella August 22nd & August 23rd

Dave Brethauer, owner of Memory Box, is coming all the way from Washington to host 2 classes at La Carta Bella! Don't miss out on this opportunity to take a class from such a talented person as Dave. We all love, admire and wait anxiously for Dave's new stamp images so this is a perfect opportunity to see him in action.

The classes are 2 hours long with a half hour to an hour between sessions - 16 people is probably max so that everyone gets some good attention. Class fees are $40 per class or $70 if you sign up for both. The Saturday Classes will be at 1:00pm and 4:00pm. The Sunday Classes will be at 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

Dave will provide colored pencils, watercolor pencils and brushes; however, if you are more comfortable using your own pencils, brushes, or paints, you can bring your own too. Dave does ask that you bring a paper trimmer and adhesive (strong double stick tape works well for the watercolor class). Below are some details on each class being offered:

Memory Box Colored Pencils

Come and learn about color, blending and shading while using Memory Box images and papers. Each student will make 5 cards using colored pencil techniques that will make you color like a pro. We'll put color to work in analogous and complementary colors schemes to really make your greeting cards stand out!

Memory Box Watercolor

This fun class teaches watercolor through watercolor paints and watercolor pencils. Learn the advantages of each watercolor media and get some helpful tips for applying watercolor to greeting cards. Try out different types of watercolor paper while learning washes and blending techniques. Each student will create 5 cards in an informative and supportive teaching style.

Dave will be using the New Fall and Christmas images from the What's in the Box 2009 Release. He will use be using Prismacolor pencils for the colored pencil class and Faber Castell watercolor pencils. At this time, Dave has been teaching with Twinkling H2O's, but may have to switch to  a different product depending on what happens with this company. He will let me know a little more when it gets closer to the time.  Also in the watercolor class, Dave will be using 140 lb cold press and 140 lb hot press paper.

Memory Box's What's in the Box 2009

We have just wrapped up our first week of the unveiling of What's in the Box 2009. The feedback that we have received about this release has been amazing. The Release is packed full of beautiful papers and 30 new stamp images that capture the best of the Fall, Halloween, Winter, and Christmas Seasons. To truly appreciate these stamps, you must see them in person; however, card samples are the next best thing. :)  This week, I will show card samples that were designed by the Memory Box team. There are so many card samples, I can't show them all at once; therefore, I will unveil them by theme. Today's theme is Fall. My next post will show all the fabulous Winter and Christmas card samples.

Dave Brethauer - Owner of Memory Box - Teaches at La Carta Bella August 22nd & August 23rd

We have a VERY special opportunity of having Dave Brethauer, owner of Memory Box, come all the way from Washington to teach at La Carta Bella! Memory Box's Sparkly Bird Bonanza Release - Tweet Bird and Cappa Flourish

As promised, here is another sample from our showcase of Memory Box's Sparkly Bird Bonanza. All of these cards were designed and created by the creative crew at Memory Box.

Today, we have a card that was created using the Tweet Bird and Cappa Flourish Stamps. The card used was a Truffle A2 Notecard that was cut down to 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. The Tweet Bird was cut out and mounted on to Biscotti Paper in the color Water. The Cappa Flourish was stamped directly on Robin's Egg Card Stock. A couple of Jewel Stickers in Lagoon was added to the Cappa Flourish to create a little sparkle.

Memory Box's New Sparkly Bird Bonanza Release

We have the newest release from Memory Box called the Sparkly Bird Bonanza. This collection is filled with beautiful birds, wonderful trees and bushes, and versatile sprigs, foliage, and flourishes. I have photographed a few of the cards that were designed by the creative crew at Memory Box and listed the items used to make each of these inspiring cards. Below are the Espalier Birds stamped on Memory box Robin's Egg paper, mounted on a Memory Box Aqua notecard and accented with Memory Box Biscotti Paper in Key Lime. Add a little Sparkle with Memory Box's Cherry Red and Azalea Pink Jewel stickers.

Next we have the Chickadee and Seedburst stamped on Memory Box Robin's Egg paper and mounted on a Aqua scalloped notecard and accented Memory Box Biscotti Paper in Robin's Egg A little sparkle is added by using Memory Box Azalea Pink and Sparkling Diamond Jewel Stickers.

Next is the Leafy Tree, stamped on Memory Box Endive paper and mounted on an Aqua notecard. For a little sparkle, Memory Box Jewels and Pearls in Berry and Lagoon.
