Hoppy Easter by Kitchen Sink Stamps and Melanie Brown

I have a confession…..I didn’t want to like Kitchen Sink Stamps. Melanie Brown has been a fan of Kitchen Sink Stamps for quite a while. She has tried diligently to get me to give them a chance. I have been an extremely tough sell; however, I will admit this card changed my mind. Needless to say, I ended up ordering several stamp sets. I am now anxiously awaiting their new releases. :)

For those of you who may not be familiar with Kitchen Sink stamps, here is a little information about them. They are clear stamps that involve 2, 3 and sometimes 4 steps in the stamping process. By stamping different variations of the same image multiple times, you achieve an image that has both depth, shading or shadowing and a lot of detail.  The stamps come number on a clear acrylic sheet and are numbered in the order of which they are to be stamped.  Below, you will see a picture of the stamp set that was used to create this super card called Honey Bunny. The picture on the left shows the actual Honey Bunny stamp set. If you look closely, you can see multiple variations of the same image with numbers beside each image. (To enlarge the picture, click on it.) This indicates the order in which the image is stamped. The general rule is that you choose a lighter color ink for the image that is sequenced to be stamped first while with each step, gradually going to darker color of ink until you use your darkest color of ink for the image that is sequenced to be stamped last.  The right hand side shows what the image looks like after the all the steps in the stamping process have been completed.

What originally turned me off on these stamps was what I perceived as a rather complicated process. Melanie has assured me that process is not complicated but instead is quite simple. Since the stamps are clear, it is easy to know where you are stamping and align the images up properly. I love the end result. The process allows you create something more than a just card but rather a work of art that looks like a painted image.
